Been under the weather for the past few days but was able to get one item taken care of in addition to some must needed garage clean-up. To keep things simple but effective, I created a custom in-tank swirlpot/sump to resolve the fluctuating fuel pressure on the track.
Essentially I modified a 16oz aluminum water bottle by drilling two 3/8″ holes about 1.5″ from the bottom (one in the front and one in the rear), plus two 1/4″ holes about 3″ from the bottom (one on the left and one on the right), plus one 1/2″ hole for the fuel return line. How does it work you may ask? Well the holes allow fuel from the tank to fill the bottle and be sucked up by the center 1″ fuel pick-up line. While the holes allow fuel to flow into the bottle, they’re restrictive enough to slow the fuel from existing in the turns (like a baffle you find in oil pans). As an extra measure the fuel return also exits into the bottle ensuring a constant flow of fuel. This solution will hopefully be a great alternative to a more complicated and expensive multi-fuel pump/external swirl-pot setup.
